“Daniel” written by his care home manager

We have supported Daniel to use the services provided by the PDS and I can attest to the positive benefit that it has had on his quality of life and health. Having the confidence and freedom to support him to make choices in his best interest has enabled holidays to be planned, technology to be implemented and large purchases made simply and efficiently.

The cumulative effect of the measures supported by the PDS has made anecdotal improvements to his cognition, I have seen improvements in concentration and response. From the decisions around wheelchair motors costing thousands and down to quite small things like the purchase of a fish tank, choosing the fish stock and decorations himself, which will lead to visual stimulation and interest in his accommodation – these things are helping to promote his well-being and after the last 2 years of lockdown nothing could be more rewarding.

As a manger, having the reassurance that the PDS provides, his finances are appropriately monitored and supported in his best interests in invaluable. Our team are dedicated professional carers but finances can be a minefield, navigating it takes expertise for which we do not have the direct funding or time.
